
CIFOR-ICRAF
The incumbent will be an integral member of ICRAF’s team in Cote d’Ivoire. Based in Korhogo, he will develop climate information tools, analyze weather data, and design tailored climate services for stakeholders, with a primary focus on smallholder farmers.
Duties and responsibilities
Support Research activities implementation
· Develop a mobile application for climate information dissemination
· Develop and parameterize agro meteorological models to design and disseminate tailored climate information products.
· Consolidate and analyze weather datasets to inform decision-making processes for various stakeholders, with a primary focus on smallholder farmers.
· Co-develop survey tools to identify climate information tailored to smallholder farmers’ specific needs
· Analyze survey data for climate information optimization
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary stakeholders, including Agricultural Extension and farmers, to ensure efficient design and dissemination of climate information for smallholder farmers.
· Contribute to writing technical reports and scientific publication
· Assist research team in proposal development
· Coach and provide support to Students during their field activities
· Provide support to Project Field Staff and interns on climate information activities
· Produce monthly progress reports
Support Project Management
· Maintain excellent collaboration with agricultural extensionists and climate information users
· Produce periodic progress reports
· Attend meetings with partners and communities as needed
Education, knowledge and experience
•Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Climate Science, Meteorology, Environmental Science, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field.
•Strong understanding of weather impacts smallholder agricultural systems.
•Proficiency in analyzing large weather datasets and utilizing data science techniques for climate information generation.
•Strong understanding of agrometeorological services and their role in enhancing climate resilience for smallholder farmers.
•Proficiency in using digital tools for climate information dissemination.
•Proven experience in using Python or R for weather data visualization, analysis, and model implementation.
•Demonstrated experience in the development and application of agrometeorological models to inform climate-smart decision-making.
•Demonstrated ability to synthesize technical information into actionable insights for diverse audiences
Terms and conditions
•This is a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position. CIFOR?ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency, commensurate with skills and experience.
•The appointment will be for 10 months, inclusive of a two?month probationary period, with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
•The duty station will be in Korhogo.
